Learn the top four benefits of being active on social channels.

By Marie Miller 3 months ago

getting-customers-to-spend-more-onlineIn our previous blog post, Social Media and Businesses, we learned more about what exactly social media is and why it is important for businesses to be active on social media. Quick refresher: Your customers are online, and you should be, too!

Four Benefits of Being on Social Media

As a thriving business, you have the opportunity to greatly increase brand awareness and customer loyalty through the utilization of social media outlets. Below we discuss the top 4 benefits you can expect from having an active social presence.

1. Run targeted ads with real-time results
How do you measure the success of being on a social platform? There are tools and analytics built into nearly all social platforms (ie: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) that will show you exactly how your posts perform. Age demographics, geographical data, the number of people who have seen/interacted/shared – it’s all there for business owners to analyze. Use these targeted ads to reach your current and potential customers. These user-specific ads will allow you to save time and money focusing your content on high-quality, potential customers.

2. Provide deeper customer experiences
Over 67 percent of consumers now go to social media for customer service. They expect fast response times and 24/7 support—and companies that deliver win out. A study by Aberdeen Group shows that companies engaging in social customer service see much bigger annual financial gains (7.5 percent YOY [year over year] growth) vs. those without (2.9 percent). Be active on your social channels. Give your customers real-time responses. Exceptional customer service ALWAYS wins. Hang out where your customers are and prove to them that you’re the best of the best.

3. Increase website traffic and search ranking
It’s true. Social platforms can point your customers to your website. Having a continual presence on social platforms increases your search engine ranking. The more content you post, and the more your audience interacts with that content, the higher your search ranking will be. This should be a healthy combination of both unique content (ie: company blogging) and 3rd party content.

4. Increase Brand Awareness
Remember, there are approximately 7.2 billion people on earth, 3 billion of those having internet access and 2.1 billion of those being active on social media channels. The opportunity to reach potential customers is ENDLESS! Social media is an effective, and often fairly inexpensive, chance for you to increase brand awareness and gain access to potential customers. Whether it be with paid advertising or running organic “like and share” campaigns on your social channels, you now have access to billions of customers –right at your fingertips.

The benefits of businesses and social media are endless.
